The New 3Rs

The roots of racism are entwined in hateful, deadly stereotypes and the denial of who benefits from them. We spend decades investing in strategies, programs and policies that have neither significantly addressed racism nor advanced democracy. These realities are the foundation of The New 3Rs.

Research by the American Pediatric Association and American Psychological Association highlights the disheartening fact that three-year-old children in the US associate Black people with negative traits.  By age four, children associate Whites with wealth and higher status.

The New 3Rs tackles racial bias by utilizing its collection of 10,000 Black History artifacts to teach Pre-K to 10th grade students, regardless of race, the contributions Black people have given the world before and after 1619. We are animating Blacks in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) for Pre-K to 5th graders. Our online global curriculum teaches Black History from agriculture to women rights, inspiring 6th to 10th graders to donate their time, talent, treasures and testimonies through blogging, civic participation, and Responsive Philanthropy. The New 3Rs youth are the youngest racial justice philanthropists globally awarding grants to Black-founded organizations investing in Black Lives. The New 3Rs supports the DEI mission of democracy.

The Greater Sum provides strategic training and mentoring for early stage nonprofit innovators. We invest in organizations who are providing new solutions to old problems, and are ready to expand the scale of their impact. We share their stories so that other philanthropists like you have the opportunity to do the same. If you represent a grant-making organization and would like to be connected with these organizations, contact us directly and we’ll make an introduction! Individuals interested in connecting withWikitongues, please visit their website for more information.

The Greater Sum supports organizations that are scaling their impact, either by expanding their service area or by teaching other organizations to replicate their innovation. Why are we excited about the Promising Practices cohort? Because they’re graduates of our Financial Strategy incubator, we know they’re mapping out a plan for sustainable impact. When they applied for funding they created a Pitch Deck that describes the problem the organization was founded to address, the solution they have created, and resulting outcomes. We invest in teams; the pitch deck shows how the leadership of The New 3Rs is laying the groundwork for success.
