AFSO, EST. 2023
AFSO is hampered by the Taliban fundamentalist group, women in Afghanistan face extreme difficulty accessing education, barring them from professional development. Afghan Female Student Outreach (AFSO) confronts these barriers by providing women with online courses and mentorship. AFSO has raised over $600k for its programs, enrolling over 1000 students and offering over 50 courses each term. In terms of expansion, AFSO seeks to increase the number of certification programs in addition to their current academic offerings in social sciences, literature, medicine, law, and business.
The Hendricks Foundation, EST. 2022
The Hendricks Foundation renews and distributes laptops to students in need. In addition, the Hendricks Foundation offers classes about the digital universe as well as how to repair technological machines. For instance, in 2024, the Hendricks Foundation hosted a Girl’s Spring Tech Camp, a Youth Winter Tech Bootcamp, and a Sustainability and the Digital Divide panel. The Hendricks Foundation has distributed over 130 devices to students and nonprofits, and seeks to expand internationally
CodeX, EST. 2019
CodeX motivates youth in underserved communities to take on leadership roles as well as innovate. Code.X hosts in-person and virtual programs in Albania, Ukraine, Myanmar, Gaza, and Palestine. Instructors come from 18 nationally-ranked universities with experience from globally-recognized companies. By early 2025, Code.X received over $500,000 from varying gifts and grants, and impacted the lives of 4,500 students in more than 10 countries.
World Tutors , EST. 2023
World Tutors helps students who have difficulty accessing education, especially in underserved communities. By emphasizing strong connections through consistent 1-on-1 tutor-student pairings, WorldTutors creates meaningful interactions, promoting growth and strengthening community. With testimonials from students, parents, tutors, and schools, WorldTutors has reported that 98% of students have reported academic improvement since joining WorldTutors and that 99.5% of students have enjoyed sessions with their tutors.
EMPOWR, EST. 2021
EMPOWR Empowr provides underserved high school students with paid internships, classes in engineering and technology, and world-class company tours. By assisting these students in gaining real-world experience and better education. 100% of the students who joined Empowr entered college with an average of $200,000 in scholarships or started a job earning an average of $85,000 after high school.

How The Greater Sum Identifies and Strengthens Nonprofit Organizations
We pursue a mission-aligned approach to identify and support high-potential nonprofit organizations working to expand access to higher education. Beyond funding, we invest in each organization's growth through capacity-building support, including access to subject matter experts, skilled interns, cohort-based learning, and strategic mentorship.

Creating Equitable Pathways to Education
A clear disparity in education exists in underserved communities and underdeveloped countries. According to Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies, students in lower-income communities can frequently only access outdated technology, affecting their digital literacy and ability to access resources for academic and professional success. The nonprofits we support work to fix this educational disparity by supporting in-person and virtual remote programs for students in underdeveloped countries, offering 1-on-1 mentorship and paid internships for high school and college students, and providing free technological devices and assistance.
Honor Your Dreams (previously known as First Tech Fund) empowers low-income high school students by providing free laptops, skills training, and mentorship, increasing their academic and professional prospects. Their hybrid fellowship lasts for one academic year, allowing students to attend networking events, a variety of workshops including in financial literacy and public speaking, and social gatherings. In addition, Honor Your Dreams connects low-income and first-generation college students with paid internships. Honor Your Dreams has distributed over 120 free laptops and 30 WiFi hotspots, and has provided over 380 hours of one-on-one mentorship.
